What to Do with Glass Bottles

With thanks to tips from various Bangkok Recycling Chain members!

Local Recyclers

Testimony 1: There's several ways to dispose of glass bottles responsibly. You can separate them from the rest of your trash and give them to your housekeeper, or the maids/security guards in your building. They are usually happy to sell them to the local recyclers for a little bit of spare change.

Testimony 2: You can also put the bags next to the trash can on your street; that way the local recyclers that come by to look for recyclables in the local trash bins will usually collect them to sell to the local recycling stations and factories.

Donate

Sell

And lastly, if you want to sell them yourself, there is a place that takes these bottles and will pay you around 3 baht per bottle. The instructions are here, but the place is located out in Bangna near ICS, so it's not really worth it to go unless you have errands in that area or you have a lot of bottles.

ชาญสิน รีไซเคิล (Chansin Recycle) in Bangna (their office is located in the same soi as Index Living Mall on Bangna Trad Road) will pay for your soda bottles and beer bottles.

You can bring your soda and beer bottles to sell at their headquarters during Monday - Saturday 8 AM - 5 PM, but they must be prepared according to the following criteria:

1. Soda Bottles - 3.5 baht per kilogram

- You must remove all labels
- You can put all the soda bottles in bags
- Bottles should be clean and not cracked or chipped

2. Small and large beer bottles packed in boxes

- The large bottles must be packed 12 bottles a box
